Pork knuckle in Ukrainian – very tasty, from simple products, a holiday every day! Try it once and you’ll be off store-bought sausage for a long time, if not forever! Completely natural, fragrant, it will conquer any heart!

According to our recipe, the knuckle turns out to be very tender and fragrant, the meat is so marinated that it just melts in your mouth. Preparing for a long time, of course, but worth the time spent.

Step by step method

  • Step 1

    We wash the knuckle, if necessary, scrape the skin with a knife.

  • Step 2

    Peel and coarsely chop the garlic. We make cuts in the skin in the shank and put pieces of garlic in them. We place the knuckle in a saucepan and fill it with beer. Cut the onion along with the husk in half. We clean carrots. We send it to the pan, put the bay leaf, red pepper and spices there. We put in the fridge for 4-6 hours to marinate.

  • Step 3

    Pour water into the pan so that the pork knuckle is completely covered. Cook over medium heat for two hours.

  • Step 4

    In a saucepan, mix honey, mustard and soy sauce. Boil over low heat until all ingredients are dissolved.

  • Step 5

    We take the knuckle out of the pan and transfer it to a baking dish. Using a brush, coat the pork knuckle with the honey and mustard glaze we just made.

  • Step 6

    We send it to the oven, preheated to 190 degrees. Turn on the convection mode. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown. Serve pork knuckle with mustard and fresh vegetables hot or cold.

Tips & variations

  • Since the degree of salinity, sweetness, bitterness, sharpness, acidity, pungency is individual for each, always add spices, spices and seasonings, focusing on your taste! If you are putting some of the seasonings for the first time, then keep in mind that there are spices that are especially important not to overdo it (for example, chili pepper).
