  • Step 2

Three butter for cheese. We send it to the freezer for half an hour.

  • Step 3

Season everything with salt and black pepper. Optionally, for piquancy, you can add lemon zest (1/2 tsp).

  • Step 4

Pour the cheese mixture with warm milk and mix.

  • Step 5

    Pour sifted flour.

  • Step 6

Knead the elastic dough and leave it in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.

  • Step 7

Roll out the dough into a layer, cut into small strips and grease with a beaten egg.

  • Step 8

Sprinkle sesame seeds on top. Carefully transfer the blanks to a baking sheet.

  • Step 9

We send it to the oven at 180 degrees for 10-20 minutes. The sticks can be considered ready as soon as they are covered with a golden crust. The products cool almost instantly, which means that they can be served immediately from the oven.

Tips & variations

  • You can use different types of cheese for baking, for example, mozzarella, halloumi, adyghe, tofu, suluguni, feta, gouda, camembert.

  • Cheese sticks go well with beer and light wine, they can be served with first courses, replacing bread, all kinds of buns and cakes. Cheese sticks are also good as an addition to tea, coffee and other hot drinks.

  • Store cheese sticks in a paper bag or container that closes tightly.

  • If you want the sticks to be fluffy, add a little baking powder to the dough.

  • Since the cheese is salty, you do not need to add salt to the dough, otherwise the appetizer will turn out to be oversalted.

My whole family loves cheese dishes. And I’m always looking for new recipes that use cheese. We tried soups and salads and pastries with cheese, but I haven’t cooked such snacks yet. The recipe is simple and perfect for breakfast. I will definitely try to cook in the near future. And thank you for the recipe.

I love baking with cheese, and I really liked these sticks too. But I kept a little more in the oven than indicated in the recipe. It turns out airy and crispy. A big plus is that it takes very little time to cook.
